I was born in raised in Idaho but have lived in many states, including California, Oregon, Utah, Arizona and now Nebraska.  I moved to Omaha in 2010 with my husband and my two youngest children.  We have three sons, Ben (21), Dakota (16) and Coltin (14).  Ben did not move with us to Nebraska as he is a soldier in the Army National Guard and was at basic training and then deployed overseas.  He now lives and works in Arizona. He is getting married in October of 2013 and we are excited to have another girl to add to the family!  The two younger boys both attend school in Omaha and love it.  We have a family rivalry this year as Dakota will be a senior at Omaha Central and Colt a freshman at Omaha North.  Not sure what side of the field to sit on for that game!!

Finishing up my part of the Women's Triathlon - I competed on a team with
a swimmer, runner, and biker.  Guess what I did?  June 2013

I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember.  It was always fun when I was little to play school with my two little sisters.  I was always the teacher of course!  I started working on my teaching degree right out of high school, but then took a break for a few years to be a mom.  I went back to school when my youngest started kindergarten and have now been teaching for 8 years.  All of those years have been spent teaching first grade until last year. I found last year that I absolutely LOVE 2nd grade and I plan to stay here-- for awhile anyway!  Regardless of what grade I teach, it is the kids that are important to me.  I love how the little ones think and I adore watching their eyes light up when they learn something new. In addition to my undergraduate degree in Education,  I have a master's degree in Early Childhood Education and Reading which I put to use every day in the classroom.

My hubby ran the Warrior Dash with me -- we were a
soaking wet, muddy mess!!  June 2013

Getting ready for the OWL Ride!  July 2013
Getting ready to listen to Chris Cagle and Big and Rich!  July 2013
In my free time I love to go for walks, runs, and bike rides with my family.  We are lucky to live by a walking / bike trail and we spend a lot of time on it. In the past year I have started entering races - both on the bike and running.  I do not compete to win (totally not good enough for that!) but to challenge myself to finish.  In 2012 I completed a 42 mile bike race and then in early 2013 I completed my first half-marathon.  This past June I competed in the Omaha Women's Triathlon as a member of a team (I did the bike riding). My next goal is to complete the triathlon on my own - I just need to find a swimming coach!  I LOVE being active - especially when it involves my friends and family members.

I also read... a LOT!  Well, I should say that I read a lot in the summer, during the school year there isn't a lot of time for reading!  I also love to take pictures and scrapbook when I have time. Recently I have fell in love with online scrapbooking where they just print out the photo book when you are done - what a fantastic idea!!
One of my goals this summer was to conquer my greatest weakness, which is my Diet Coke addiction.  I'm happy to say that I have kicked my multiple soda a day habit--after more years than I can count!  My new goal for the school year is to eat more fruits and vegetables and stay away from sweets.  That is going to be a tough one with all of the goodies our amazing PTO always provides!!  We shall see how it goes!

I am looking forward to a great year with you all!
