OUR MVP Damen

This year was my second year playing in the Cornhusker State Games for hockey.  Our team name was the Little Lancers and I was the team goalie.  When our team received our jerseys the parents set up the locker room like a professional NHL locker room, it was awesome.  On our way out to play our first game in the  tournament all the parents lined up to give us high fives and tell us good luck.  It was a very hard tournament but our team had so much fun.  Our team even had its own professional photograph with us at all times, he is also the Omaha Lancers photographer.  We all can’t wait to play in the tournament again next summer.

Our MVP Talia

Going to Colorado

First, we hiked in the mountains.  Next, we rode horses.  My horse's name was Lance.  We had a cabin next to a really fast river.  It was really loud and had a little waterfall.  We caught a trout.  It was a rainbow trout.  Teh best part of Colorado was swimming at the hotel.  We also went on a carriage ride and I jumped off a building on a bungee cord.

We Remember

Today is Patriot's Day, a day that we use to remember the events of 9/11 and those who lost their lives that day.  We took took a break from our learning at  9:11 a.m. to have a moment of silence and then followed that with The Star Spangled Banner.  What a great opportunity to recognize and remember all those that work daily to keep our country safe and free.

We also had the opportunity to show our remembrance by creating a pictorial representation of September 11th, shared by a wonderful teacher at http://primaryparadise.blogspot.com/2012/09/free-september-11th-craftivity.html The picture shows the Twin Towers, Pentagon, and a badge representing the first responders who were there to help, with the background of our flag.  It is an amazing tribute to all, and a fantastic way to remember and celebrate what makes us proud to be an American!

We hope you enjoy our tribute.

American Symbols Reader's Theater

Our second grade class has been learning about America, with a focus on the symbols that represent our country and what our rights and responsibilities are as citizens.  As part of our learning this week we completed reader's theaters. Reader's theater is an awesome tool that incorporates the content along with speaking and reading fluently.  Take a look at our performances!

Our MVP Katie

We ate in our classroom because we got all of Joe's body parts.  Joe is our potato head.  We get body parts because we are being quiet at the carpet, are being respectful, or get a compliment from another teacher.  If you were cold lunch you got to leave your lunch in the classroom.  If you were hot lunch you got to go down to the lunchroom to get your lunch.  Then we came back into the room so that we could eat our lunches.  I was happy that we got to do that.  It was really fun to do it.
