I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. It was always fun when I was little to play school with my two little sisters. I was always the teacher of course! I started working on my teaching degree right out of high school, but then took a break for a few years to be a mom. I went back to school when my youngest started kindergarten and have now been teaching for 8 years. All of those years have been spent teaching first grade until last year. I found last year that I absolutely LOVE 2nd grade and I plan to stay here-- for awhile anyway! Regardless of what grade I teach, it is the kids that are important to me. I love how the little ones think and I adore watching their eyes light up when they learn something new. In addition to my undergraduate degree in Education, I have a master's degree in Early Childhood Education and Reading which I put to use every day in the classroom.

I also read... a LOT! Well, I should say that I read a lot in the summer, during the school year there isn't a lot of time for reading! I also love to take pictures and scrapbook when I have time. Recently I have fell in love with online scrapbooking where they just print out the photo book when you are done - what a fantastic idea!!
One of my goals this summer was to conquer my greatest weakness, which is my Diet Coke addiction. I'm happy to say that I have kicked my multiple soda a day habit--after more years than I can count! My new goal for the school year is to eat more fruits and vegetables and stay away from sweets. That is going to be a tough one with all of the goodies our amazing PTO always provides!! We shall see how it goes!
I am looking forward to a great year with you all!
